Your ideas and freedom to write will be nurtured in this flow-state, morning practice.

We prepare to write with a 10-minute silent meditation, to clear our minds of clutter, shut down the judgmental sector of our thoughts, and dismiss all expectations for the next 40 minutes of free-flow writing. You may refer to the audio/video timers provided on screen for your convenience . You are encouraged to dismiss the judgmental voice and open yourself to channel Source and continuously record whatever thoughts come to mind without restraint. After the 40 minutes is spent, you may optionally share what you have created.

Like playing Jazz or working with improv on stage, the goal is to open a doorway to the unknown and see what flies in. Typical results are life opening and mind expanding--like growing flowers or mushrooms--amazing things come into being. Participants frequently say this practice is a cure for writers block.

You are invited to join with a cadre of fellow writers to explore all manner of creative writing. This is a sounding board, a test bed, a safe place to share and obtain reader response to your work. Everyone is encouraged to voice their honest reactions to the works presented in our weekly practice sessions in a constructive manner.

• When: Every other week, starting at 10:00 AM ET

Format:
In each session, two authors will have the opportunity to share their work in a supportive and focused environment. Each writer will submit 20-30 pages of their memoir, which will be discussed in-depth by the group while the author listens in isolation. This MFA-style approach fosters honest, constructive dialogue, allowing participants to explore the nuances of storytelling and personal narrative.

Submission Guidelines:

• Page Length: 20-30 pages max, double-spaced, pages numbered
• Font: Times New Roman, 12-point
• Format: PDF with the author's name and email address in the top left corner of page one.
• Distribution: Work will be sent out via email 5 days before the session to ensure all participants come prepared for an insightful discussion.

About the Workshop:

• Ekphrastic Poetry Exploration: Engage in the unique interplay of art and poetry. Participants will be presented with a visual artwork that serves as a muse. After a 10-minute silent meditation, you’ll have 25 minutes to write a poem inspired by the image, capturing its essence, emotions, and narrative.
• Flow-state Poetry Writing: These sessions are improvisational like Jazz or stage improv, similar to our Friday sessions but for poets.
