The Poet’s Journey from Aloneness to Connectedness is an Authentic Poetry workshop which allows us to honor our journey of being on our path alone but to find our way to connectedness with each other as poets, and with all that is in our surroundings and beyond. World known poets: Wendell Berry, Arlene Gay Levine, David Whyte, Derek Walcott and others do remind us in their generous writings how lonely the journey can be, yet we get offered many chances to discover and create a common bond.

Jerrice J. Baptiste, born in Haiti, is the founder and facilitator of Authentic Poetry workshops. She has been the recipient of grants from CREATE and Poets & Writers. She is also a returning teaching artist and poet at the Omega Institute in New York, where she was the recipient of the Juno Cottage Residency for The Women’s Leadership Program.

Her poetry is published and/or forthcoming in The Yale Review; Mantis; Penumbra Literary Art Journal; Urbana: Buddhism & Art; Pensive: A Global Journal of Spirituality & The Arts; The Dewdrop; Braided Way: Faces & Voices of Spiritual Practice; Shambhala Times; Poetica Review; and numerous others.

Jerrice is the author of seven children’s books and Wintry Mix. She is a Pushcart Prize nominee for 2024 and 2025, selected for Best of the Net in 2022 by Blue Stem. Her poetry and collaborative songwriting are featured on the Grammy-nominated album Many Hands: Family Music for Haiti.
