*** ABSTRACTS ***

Accessibility for digital products and services

Thomas Zettlitz (Senior UX Designer, QAware)

Concerning the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), all people should have equal opportunities, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, origin, or social and economic status.
To support Goal 10 of the UN SDGs, this MeetUp Talk will focus on how we, as UX designers and software engineers, can improve the accessibility of digital products and services, therefore establishing more equal access to digital resources for all kinds of users.
To make you accessibility-ready in 20 minutes, we will cover 10 rules for better accessibility and show you useful tools to analyze the accessibility of digital products and services, ranging from OS settings, browser properties, bowser extensions, and stand-alone tools.

Nature, people and sustainability - Everything between 0 and 1

Henning Fries (UI/UXpert, DIaLOGIKa)

In a world omnipresently shaped by digital technologies, web design and web development face the challenge of being not only aesthetically pleasing and functional, but also human- and environment-centered. This talk explores the little-researched connection between mental health and sustainable web design - also from the developer's perspective. We will discuss how thoughtful design principles and practices can reduce users' mental stress while making a positive contribution to the environment. Strategies and best practices will be presented that aim to make websites more accessible, user-friendly and at the same time more environmentally friendly in order to improve the online experience and promote mental health. The 30-minute presentation will encourage participants to think about people and the environment in the context of the web design and web development trades and to develop innovative solutions that prioritize user well-being and sustainability.

Sustainable Software - it's a win-win-win situation

Carsten Windler (Principal Engineer & Green IT Enthusiast, Plan A)

Are you still unsure whether Green IT is worth implementing in your organization, or do you need some good arguments to convince your colleagues?
Writing sustainable software is not just a win for the planet. Focusing on lean and efficient systems has several other, often less obvious, benefits for all stakeholders.
In this talk, we'll discover how sustainable software engineering can simultaneously advance environmental goals, improve business profitability, and increase developer satisfaction.
