Broei 3.0 from a youth experiment to a full ecosystem in a Castle

Broei is a youth-driven city lab from Ghent (Belgium), founded in 2020 as a temporary experiment in a medieval castle. What started as a space for and by young people (16–30) grew into a citywide platform connecting young makers, youth organisations and newcomers through an open call, a creatorspace (broei.lab) and a solidarity restaurant. In 2027, Broei returns to the castle — this time permanently — and is rethinking its future as Broei 3.0. During our inspiration week in Barcelona, we’re hosting a Culture Jam (afterwork) at Nest City Lab by Apocapoc to exchange practices, ideas and know-how around community-building, regenerative culture, and how coworking can become more than desks — a shared ecosystem that creates real impact. Join us, connect, and help imagine what the next chapter of Broei could look like.
