Nuestra primera proyecci贸n, The Sami Song of Survival (Salmo Sami de Sobreviv锚ncia), explora c贸mo el pueblo ind铆gena S谩mi del norte de Europa utiliza la organizaci贸n creativa, el arte y la resiliencia cultural para resistir a siglos de racismo institucionalizado, marginaci贸n y colonialismo en la frontera 谩rtica.

A continuaci贸n, viajaremos a 脕frica Occidental con Unite for Bissau (Unidas por Bissau / N么 Kumpu Guin茅). Esta pel铆cula, que invita a la reflexi贸n, sigue a valientes mujeres locales que contin煤an el legado liberador de Am铆lcar Cabral. Al construir instituciones arraigadas en la agroecolog铆a, desaf铆an al patriarcado, reclaman la soberan铆a alimentaria y rechazan sin miedo normas sociales opresivas como la mutilaci贸n genital femenina y el matrimonio forzado.

Join us for an inspiring evening of cinema and global solidarity featuring two powerful documentaries directed by activist and filmmaker Iara Lee, founder of the Cultures of Resistance Network.

Our first screening, The Sami Song of Survival (Salmo Sami de Sobreviv锚ncia), explores the indigenous S谩mi people of Northern Europe as they use creative organizing, art, and cultural resilience to resist centuries of institutionalized racism, marginalization, and colonialism on the Arctic frontier.

Following this, we will travel to West Africa with Unite for Bissau (Unidas por Bissau / N么 Kumpu Guin茅). This thought-provoking film follows brave local women carrying forward the liberating legacy of Am铆lcar Cabral. By building institutions rooted in agroecology, they challenge patriarchy, claim food sovereignty, and fearlessly reject oppressive social norms like female genital mutilation and forced marriage.

Through her work at Caipirinha Productions and her extensive history as an activist traveling across the Global South, Iara Lee uses cinema to explore how creative action contributes to conflict resolution and human rights worldwide.
