Wellsprings Holistic Health & Well-Being Meeting

Details

This month's we'll explore current groundbreaking research into new treatments for cancer (including the exciting implications of this work for Complimentary Therapies in preparing cancer patients for treatment) with guest speaker Dr Stephanie McArdle of Nottingham Trent University. Plus Pete Anderson, a leading figure on the local health and well-being scene, who will give us a talk (and some practical demonstrations) on Shiatsu, the ancient Japanese therapy that's based on the same principles as acupuncture. For more details about this week's meeting, scroll down and see below...

About The Group:
Wellsprings is a new group for anyone interested in a contemporary approach to personal well-being, mind-body-spirit “wellness” and holistic health – including the new, cutting-edge frontiers where science and modern medicine are increasingly re-connecting with traditional therapies and ancient wisdom streams.

Our focus is on health, vitality and wellness at all levels of our being, and we seek to actively explore the ways in which we can be healthy, active and well-balanced as individuals, within a healthy, well-balanced wider community. Our aims are to seek out the wide variety of differing yet complimentary ways in which people (both individually and collectively) can be empowered to get the most from life - and, over time, to promote the integration of holistic wellness into wider health care.

About Wellsprings Meetings:
We hold regular meet-ups once a month which offer (in a friendly, relaxed and informal atmosphere) the opportunity to:

• explore and learn more about the established and emerging therapies within this exciting, vibrant field – including receiving news and up-dates about new developments and recently announced research

• try-out some therapies and techniques from within the broad field of complimentary and holistic therapies, in the form of accessible “taster” sessions that are provided under the expert guidance of qualified and accredited practitioners and instructors

• meet and get to know other, likeminded people who have an interest in well-being, holistic health, mind-body-spirit integration and associated topics

Our meetings include talks by guest speakers, occasional practical demonstrations, film or video presentations on interesting topics, information about relevant events, classes and courses that are happening locally, and the opportunity to relax and chat with other group members socially over refreshments. All are welcome and membership is free (although there is a small admission charge at the door to help cover room hire and other costs - see below).

Our meetings are casual, friendly and "open", and they provide an opportunity to encounter and explore subjects and therapies from right across the well-being and holistic sector in an easy and straightforward way.

The meetings take place in the heart of the Nottingham city centre (close to easy parking and full public transport links, including rail), usually on the third Wednesday of the month, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. Meetings will usually take place at Cafe Sobar, 22 Friar Lane, Nottingham NG1 6DQ. Admission is £6 (waged) or £3 (unwaged/concession), which includes a donation to Nottinghamshire Hospice.

*** Details of This Month's Meeting ***

This month's meeting is packed full of really amazing things! We have two fantastic guest speakers:

• Dr Stephanie McArdle of Nottingham Trent University will give us a talk about the groundbreaking research she is involved in to develop new treatments for cancer (including the exciting implications of this work for Complimentary Therapies in preparing cancer patients for treatment)

• Pete Anderson, a leading figure on the local health and well-being scene, who will give us a talk (and some practical demonstrations) on Shiatsu, the ancient Japanese therapy that is based on the same principles as acupuncture, and which uses pressure, massage and movement to bring about both physical and emotional healing.

In addition this month's meeting will, of course, also feature some periods of meditation, group discussion and a chance to chat and get to know each other over refreshments.

So come along and join the Wellsprings crowd this Wednesday for a really great evening!...
