We are starting an Epic Boardgame Club on Saturdays at the Griffons Den near Hillside & Quadra, with the goal of replicating the sort of epic gaming experiences you can normally only get at conventions.
The Griffons Den is excited to offer our first Learn to Play session of Terraforming Mars, an epic hard sci-fi game that rates 8.3 on Board Game Geek with a 3.27/5 complexity. This 10-year old game has been inducted into the BGG Hall of Fame and is still holding strong at #26 on BGG's Hotness list, a full decade after launch.
Because of the insane amount of cards in this game you can play it many MANY (many!!) times and each one will be new and exciting: we played it almost every day during the pandemic lockdowns and it still is fresh and fun today! And there are several cool expansions with numerous alternative maps that keep the game fresh.
Last Saturday we started the Epic Boardgame Club with Twilight Imperium and this Saturday, March 7th we will be hosting our first game of Terraforming Mars at 6 PM.
It can be a steep learning curve so this will be a beginner friendly game with a rules explanation at the start so beginners or more experienced players players are both welcome.

Expected play time is about 3-4 hours with beginners and time for rules explanations. Future games will include more of the expansions and alternative maps.

We have a private room in the Griffons Den which means it is QUIET, we can bring our own food and beverages (including alcohol; there is a fridge, microwave and kettle) and there is no closing time when we are kicked out so we can go late if needed.
