Knife Skills for Beginners: Chop Faster, Safer, and With Confidence
Details
If prep work feels slow or stressful, knife skills are usually the missing piece.
This is a small-group, hands-on knife skills workshop for beginner and returning cooks who want to feel safer, more efficient, and more confident in the kitchen.
You’ll learn how to:
- Hold a knife safely and comfortably
- Set up your cutting board so it doesn’t slide
- Use a few essential cuts you’ll actually use at home
- Prep common ingredients like onions and peppers with confidence
The class is taught at a comfortable pace with guidance throughout.
This workshop is a good fit if you’re new to cooking, feel unsure using knives, or want prep work to stop being the hardest part of cooking.
Please bring a chef’s knife if you have one. Limited loaner knives may be available — message me if needed.
To keep the workshop hands-on and supportive, space is limited.
Attendance includes a credit toward a future adult cooking or baking class for those who want to continue building skills.
Hosted by Apex Kitchen Rx, a local cooking education program focused on building confidence in the kitchen.
