## BEYOND THE SCALE: VO₂ Max, DEXA & Body-Scanning Technology

### What can your body data actually tell you?

Your scale tells you how much you weigh—but weight alone doesn’t tell you how much muscle you have, where your body stores fat, how strong your bones may be, or how efficiently your body uses oxygen.
Today, people can access health and fitness technology that was once reserved for medical facilities, professional athletes, and research laboratories. VO₂ max testing, DEXA scans, body-composition analyzers, advanced smart scales, wearables, and connected health apps are making it possible to collect more information about our bodies than ever before.
But more data does not always mean better information.
Which tests actually measure something? Which devices provide estimates? Who would benefit from using them? What can you purchase and use on your own? And when is professional testing worth the additional expense?
Join Grow Young Hawaiʻi — A Wellness & Longevity Collective for an approachable, nontechnical conversation about the latest technology for measuring cardiovascular fitness, muscle, body fat, bone health, and changes in your body over time.
No previous knowledge is necessary. We’ll explain everything in plain language.
