El Palauet Albéniz o Palacio Albéniz, rodeado por los jardines de Joan Maragall, fue construido por el arquitecto Juan Moya para alojar al rey Alfonso XIII y a su familia durante la Exposición Universal de 1929. El edificio era conocido en aquel entonces como Pabellón Real de Montjuic.

• -> Hasta entonces, la residencia del monarca durante sus estancias en Barcelona siempre había sido el Palau Reial de Pedralbes, pero se consideró más funcional que los reyes se instalaran en el recinto ferial durante la Exposición.

Diseño: Su construcción en piedra y ladrillo, con cubiertas de pizarra, no sigue las pautas de la arquitectura mediterránea, sino de la corte madrileña, con influencias del palacio de La Granja y del monasterio de El Escorial. Los dos leones esculpidos que se encuentran en la entrada del palacete proceden del Palau Reial de Pedralbes.

¿Cual es el programa?:

• ¿Cuando?: Martes 24 de septiembre nos encontraremos a las 16h.
• ¿Donde?: Nos encontraremos en plaza España. En la torre veneciana derecha según miras al MNAC. De ahí iremos caminando hasta el palauet.
• Visita: -> La visita por el palauet será libre. Se habrá de hacer fila hasta poder acceder. En caso de que no llueva, antes de la visita nos amenizará el espectáculo de música y teatro de Robert Gobern. Majordoms i minyones.

Pago y reserva de plaza: 3€*. *En concepto de organización y mantenimiento del grupo.

• En los bellos jardines de Joan Maragall se pueden descubrir la fuente monumental, el anfiteatro y un conjunto de esculturas ubicadas en distintos puntos de los jardines.
• Una vez finalizada la Exposición Universal, se pensó en utilizar el edificio como museo de la música, proyecto que no prosperó, por eso, en los años treinta, recibió su nombre actual en homenaje al compositor Isaac Albéniz.
