What we’re about

This is an invite only group that organises national meet ups from members of other architectural or hiking/rambling groups in the UK that share an interest in both rural architecture and walking in rural locations.
The group meets for day excursions to examples of stunning or interesting architecture in rural locations, wether that be in small villages, isolated remote locations, or sited in a dramatic landscape. Sometimes this may extend to a weekend involving an overnight stay in a pub, hostel, or similar group accommodation.
All members should enjoy walking in the countryside while sharing their passion for architecture. Many architects join us to get away from their urban offices, and their work with urban architecture, to explore old and new rural architecture while getting the exercise they are in great need of.
Rural architecture encompasses Abbeys, Monasteries, Churches, Great Estate Houses, Castles, Forts, Toll Houses, Lockheeper's Houses, Coaching Inns, Pubs, Bothies and Barns. We traverse every path, nook and cranny to find them appear by magic just around the next corner!
