7:00pm - Greening the Game Boy: Low-Carbon Game Design for Solar Powered Platforms - Alex Custodio, Researcher, Concordia University.
This presentation addresses the social, technical, and ecological protocols embedded within residual videogame platforms. Drawing on work conducted with the Solar Media Collective at Concordia University, it discusses how eco-critical modding practices have emerged in riposte to the regime of planned obsolescence and looks at how low-carbon game design for energy efficient hardware intersects with larger conversations around greener software practices.
