IMPROVE HOW YOU MEASURE SOFTWARE FOR SUSTAINABILITY

The Green Software Foundation's 2024 Carbon Hack, starts in less than 2 weeks! This year our Hackathon is all about Impact Framework (IF) - a way to compute and report the environmental impacts of software applications accurately.

Join us for this LIVE training session, as GSF Executive Director Asim Hussain, guides you through an introduction to the Impact Framework command line tool, manifest files, and how to write a simple plugin.

🌐IF is a game-changer in software measurement
IF takes observations you can easily gather about running systems, such as CPU utilization, page views, or number of installs, and converts them into environmental impacts like carbon, water, energy, and air quality in an auditable, replicable, verifiable, and transparent way.
If you can observe it, IF can measure its impacts.

By the end of the hour, you'll confidently:

  • Generate a basic manifest file to compute impacts using existing plugins.
  • Develop your own plugin in Impact Framework.
  • Understand core concepts in IF, including Observations, Impacts, Manifests, Plugins, and Induction.
