📋 Meetup Agenda:

16:30 - 17:00 - Mingling and food. As an environmentally conscious meetup group we will be providing vegetarian food by default (with vegan-friendly options). If you would like a non-vegetarian food option, please let us know!

17:00 - 17:05 - Meetup start and introduction

17:05 - 17:40 - [Presenting Virtually] Building a Sustainable Web: a practical exploration of Open Source tools and strategies by Valeria Salis, Software developer at SparkFabrik. Valeria describes best herself what this session is about: Being someone deeply concerned about climate change, I stumbled upon web sustainability by chance. I first learned about how to create a better User Experience taking in consideration sustainability principles and strategies. It wasn’t enough for me. I searched for more information and tried to connect some key words to “sustainable” or “sustainability” such as cloud sustainability, more sustainable cms, more sustainable programming languages, etc. At some point I didn’t know where I was and what I was searching for anymore as I couldn’t see a clear and linear path (sorry, INTJ problems). So I tried to build it myself and, as small as they seemed, I made some steps forward and open source and the community aspect had a key role. In this talk we will take a look at those steps and explore some open source tools and resources so the approach to a more sustainable development won’t seem like an insurmountable obstacle any longer.

17:40 - 17:45 - Break

17:45 - 18:20 - Exploring Cloud Carbon Footprint tool by Marta Paciorkowska, Software Engineer at Oda. In this session Marta will provide an introduction to and a demo of Cloud Carbon Footprint, which is an open source tool that provides visibility and tooling to measure, monitor and reduce cloud carbon emissions of the applications. Marta will also share experiences of how it has been used at Oda.

18:20 - 18:30 - Updates on ongoing projects and activities in green software and cloud native sustainability space by Kristina Devochko.

18:30 - Thank you and meetup end.

Looking forward to seeing you all there! 😺

❗️ Please only reply YES on the RSVP if you are actually coming.
