Local or Frontier? The Green AI Question
Details
Come along to our autumn GSF Scotland virtual event, talking all things Green AI with our fabulous speaker, the founder of BeGreenAI, Marcus Knight!
Local models and fast frontier models like Claude Haiku or GPT-4.1 nano both promise low-impact AI, just in very different ways. This session puts them head to head to see where each one actually wins on energy and carbon.
Attendees will leave knowing when to reach for a local model and when a fast frontier model is the better everyday choice, and why the answer isn't as obvious as either camp claims.
Come along and find out how you can be more green with your AI choices.
Monday, Oct 5th, 5-6pm BST - see you there!
Speaker Bio:
Marcus Knight is the founder of Be Green AI, an AI trainer and consultant working at the intersection of AI and sustainability. He trains people to use AI more efficiently, in ways that are better for the planet while also improving results, workflows and productivity. Through workshops, talks and strategy support, Marcus takes teams from an honest audit of where they currently stand through to the adoption of greener AI tools and systems, always grounded in evidence rather than assumption or vendor-led sales pitches. His approach is practical, clear-thinking and focused on sustainable innovation, helping teams cut digital waste while getting more out of the AI tools they already use.
We will be asking for donations for our speakers time, due to the current difficult market for sustainability founders.
