GTA Hiking & Stuff

As warned, this year I want to start with short hikes, and build up longer and longer throughout the season.

This will be a 5km hike. The goal will be 90 minutes. And it'll be in the easier direction, in terms of hills.

Parking
There are two parking areas, the one that we're using (it's free), and the one that we're not using, because it's not free. We'll be at the north-west end of the trail, near the north end of Grasshopper lane. There's a swath of parking along the curve in the road.

Fall Hiking Season Information:
"Sault" means hill. Long Sault is literally a set of long assaulting hills, some grass, some dirt, some roots, so bring appropriate footwear.

Plan-For-Winter with Crampons:
Please note that as we get into winter hiking with snow and slippery trails, we consider proper Crampons to be mandatory. The event host can ask you not to participate if you don't have proper footwear including Crampons.

This hike will take us through the beautiful valleys of Durham Forest. We will do a large loop around the forest enjoying the scenic views. It's a great time of year to capture the brilliant colours of fall. Once we finish the hike, we can do lunch at the Hub Restaurant, which overlooks the valleys below.

The pace will be about 4.5 km/hr. max. taking breaks along the way. We can adjust as needed. The length of the hike is roughly 9-10 km. Come out and enjoy the fall colours.

• Proper footwear is required.
• Be aware of ticks at all times of the year.
• Please dress for the weather.
• Bring water.
• The hike is Free.
• Parking is Free.

We promptly leave at
9:35 am.
