ππ« π Psychedelic Summer - Part Four: There's No Place Like Home
***
BARAKA represents what's known as the "Come Down" of the psychedelic experience. It's towards the end of the journey, in the last hour to two hours. You begin to feel lighter; bigger emotions fade, making way for tranquility to settle in. Everything feels alright, despite any uncertainty that may still linger. There's a sense of unity present within you now, like everything is the way it is for some reason you just can't rationalize. You don't even care to intellectualize this feeling. You simply allow yourself to enjoy this newfound rapture. You embody the feeling entirely. You are the feeling.
This may sound a bit woo-woo, spiritual, or whatever other pejorative you'd like, however it's well documented in both many lived experiences and the scientific research that feelings of unity and oneness present themselves towards the end of the psychedelic journey. What does this unity and oneness mean exactly? Who can say. That's up to us as individuals to determine for ourselves, as we're all carrying out this existence in our own unique ways.
I'll leave you with a fantastic educational series from one of psychedelics' leading researchers, Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris. It's quite extensive, but if you have any questions about the psychedelic experience, they'll surely be answered here from all angles:

What exactly does this all have to do with BARAKA? Only one way to find out... π‘π₯ π¬

As mentioned last week, I won't be there for the discussion unfortunately. I've gotta keep focusing all my energy on recovering. Hopefully I'll be back in late September or early October π
Join (most of) us Sunday, August 31 at 10am at the Red Brick Cafe for the final discussion of Psychedelic Summer!
You can stream BARAKA for free on Plex. Alternatively, you can borrow the film on DVD from the Guelph Public Library or rent it virtually on YouTube.
Happy watching! πππ
