GFS Goes To The Movies: NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE (2025)

Hey folks, it's been a hot minute since we've done an official outing. What better way to ressurect the GFS Goes To The Movies moniker than with Toronto's-own ridiculous duo Nirvanna The Band The Show (starring Matt Johnson himself and Jay McCarrol, as themselves) in Matt Johnson's NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE (2025), just in time for Matt Johnson month.

I've been wanting to do a Matt Johnson month for ages, and thankfully this month was the obvious time to do so (who couldn't use some cheering up in February, the coldest, bleakest month of the year). Here's an official synopsis of the film (taken from IMDb):

"When their plan to book a show at the Rivoli goes horribly wrong, Matt and Jay accidentally travel to the year 2008."

We'll likely be seeing it at the Princess Cinemas Twin in Waterloo, as in my experience, The Bookshelf is a bit behind the pulse on what's happening on the indie film circuit (I asked both cinemas whether they'd be screening the film: Princess Cinemas responded favorably, in addition to sharing the trailer on their Insta page, whereas The Bookshelf ignored me... so I think we have our answer).

We're aiming for the February 13-15 weekend, which is when the movie opens. I'll keep my eyes peeled for screening info and report back what the official date/time of our outing is. I'm also happy to carpool for anyone that requires a ride, so feel free to comment or message me for a ride.
