What we're about

A meetup group with photo walks, workshops and talks for photographers in the Guildford area who want to get together, take some photos, share a drink and improve their photographic skills. The group runs on a number of strands;

Free photo walks : Free monthly photowalks from April to December each year. The photowalks usually take place on a weekday evening and each session has a theme to guide our photography. The sessions are followed by an optional chat in the pub; to have a drink, chat with fellow photographers and to review our photography.

Photo workshops : Paid for workshops which run as both individual session and in a series. The workshops take place in a classroom / studio setting and are designed to improve particular areas of your photography; from getting to know your camera, through to advanced technical and creative topics.
Many of the workshops take place at the Guildford Institute, which is in central Guildford. Guildford Institute has good links via local busses and has ample local parking.

Photography talks : We also post local photography based talks which we think may be of interest to the group. These will include talks given by our members in addition to local clubs and associations who welcome non-members (often with a small charge made).

If you would like to improve your technical and artistic photography skill and enjoy meeting with other local photographers, then please sign up and get involved.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please get in touch.

Evening photowalk : Springtime in Guildford (Free event)

To mark out first meetup photowalk of 2020, we will be looking to find some signs of spring in the courtyards, backstreets and alleyways of Guildford. You will be set the challenge to take 3 photos that go together as a group showing something interesting that you find along the way. It might be 3 portraits of people you meet or some small details you see along the way. Whatever you find interesting will make a good subject. We will meet on the High Street outside the Guildhall (opposite Tunsgate Arch) at 7:00pm and after brief introductions we will be on our way. I will be around to show you some interesting photo opportunities and to offer encouragement and help, should you need it. We will shoot until about 8:30 and then move into a local pub to see what we have managed to find and to have a chat and a drink. Hopefully you will make some new friends, have fun and improve your photography. I look forward to seeing you on the evening. Peter Merry
