BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE: **Acoustic** Classic Rock Group Jam
Details
THIS WEEK
This week's topic is classic rock. We'll explore the basic chords used in classic rock (the power chord) as well as some common, iconic melodies (when played on guitar, these are often called "licks" or "riffs").
We'll use examples from classic rock such as Ozzy Osborne "Crazy Train" and Guns 'N Roses "Sweet Child of Mine" to illustrate the points.
WHAT WE WILL DO
- (Possibly) Listen to some performances
- Get help tuning and maintaining your guitar
- Learn basics of music theory with the group
- Practice some ear training skills with the group
- Jam with the group
WHAT TO BRING
Your own ACOUSTIC guitar. You're also welcome to bring your own snacks or refreshments.
WHAT TO KNOW
- We are graciously hosted by CCB Church in Copley. Let's please be grateful and respectful during our time there. They ask us to mind our manners, use respectful language, do not smoke or drink any alcohol in the building, do not block doors or hallways, and in general practice common sense!
- All levels are welcome, but this lesson is aimed at Beginner-Intermediate (if you've never played at all, you may struggle to keep up but if you are beyond the intermediate level you may find the pace too slow.)
- If you want to make this a regular thing, you can help by showing up!
- Acoustic guitar is the best thing to bring as we have no amps. Please do not bring an amp for yourself as you will drown out fellow students.
