• What we'll do
Want to learn more about Ham radio? Already a Ham and have questions about your radio? Need your radio programmed? Want to bounce ideas/thoughts/question off of other Hams? Hillsborough County’s ARES Emergency Coordinator Jonathan Rubin, KJ4NYD , invites Gulf Coast Makers to join in Hillsborough ARES monthly "Get to Know Your Radio" Night. ARES is a field organization of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the largest amateur radio advocacy and fraternal organization in the United States. Today, at a national level ARES provides the organization and guidance to help amateur radio operators to establish local emergency communications volunteer groups. ARES Emergency Coordinators work with local government agencies such as police, fire, sheriff, search and rescue and offices of emergency management to determine what emergency communications needs may exist and how to best serve the community.

If you need a radio programmed please bring the specific software, programming cables, code plug and radio with you.

Local ARES groups will be on hand at Gulf Coast Maker & Comic Con on March 24, too!
