Talk:
Demystifying Kafka Guarantees: Ensuring Data Integrity and Reliability
Abstract:
Kafka has become a pivotal technology in modern data infrastructure, facilitating real-time data streaming, and integration. As organizations increasingly depend on Kafka for mission-critical applications, understanding its guarantees — like durability, consistency, and ordering —becomes essential for ensuring data integrity and reliability.
Join us as we delve into the intricacies of Kafka, exploring its features and the implementation techniques to build reliable mission critical applications.
We'll take a comprehensive look on the following:
1. Kafka fundamentals & design philosophy for being simple and scaling well
2. The pitfalls of distributed components over not so reliable network
3. Delivery guarantees for a Kafka Producer
4. Delivery guarantees for a Kafka Consumer
5. Kafka Transactions
6. Ordering guarantees
By the end of this talk, we'll have a solid understanding of Kafka guarantees and how to apply them effectively depending upon the use case.

💡 Speaker:
Diptiman Raichaudhuri, Staff Developer Advocate, Confluent
Talk:
Stream Processing for the non-JVM world: pyflink and kafka-python
Abstract:
DiptimanThis session explains the need for a unified stream processing engine and explains the architectural pillars of Apache Flink. The session would also throw light on ‘modern Data Platforms’ and how Kafka and Flink are fuelling manufacturing use cases. For a non-JVM user, this is the best time to explore these frameworks using popular languages like python.
This talk would also demonstrate:
- A kafka-python producer
- A pyflink Table API transformation using TUMBLING WINDOW
- A Flink SQL transformation on Kafka message
Bio:
Staff Developer Advocate at Confluent, ex-AWS Data Analytics Specialist, ex-Google Cloud - Data platform specialist. Designed and implemented ‘Modern Data Platform’ for large scale enterprise use cases. Worked at the intersection of Data(Spark, Flink, Kafka, Kinesis, Redshift, Iceberg, Glue, Hive) and AI(torch, sagemaker, vertex ai,kubeflow) at cloud scale (AWS and Google Cloud).
