Difficulty/Terrain: Moderate. Mostly rolling terrain with 3 minor hills

Distance: 4 mile hike.

Target Pace: 25 min/mile

HEADS UP! If the parking area in front of the Horse Barn is full when you arrive, please park in the Event Parking Field just to the west of the farm adjacent to Shaker Rd.

Other Notes/Comments:
This hike has 3 parts:
1. A 4 mile hike;
2. A tour of Alasa Farms which is dedicated to rescuing farm animals;
3. A visit to a local winery tasting room.

This will be a joint hike with Trail Works of Wayne County. We will hike the Alasa Farm Trails which include a 10 ft waterfall and lovely vistas of the Sodus Bay watershed.

After the hike, Barb DeRoo of Trail Works and Alasa Farms, will lead us on a tour of the farm as we'll learn about its Shaker history. We'll also get to visit with and feed many of the rescued animals.

I've attached several photos from our 2024 hike at Alasa Farms. Also note that one of the photos is a spreadsheet showing you the diet restrictions of the farm animals. Grapes, Lettuce, and Carrots are the most popular foods and can be eaten by MOST (but not all) of the farm animals. So please have a look in your frig and bring along any of the fruit & veggies that are looking a bit dated ... the farm animals don't care if the lettuce is browning up :)

Finally, for those interested, we'll stop by the Tasting Room of Silver Waters Winery. Silver Waters is located about 8 minutes from the farm.
