Welcome to GWCN Stockholm Chapter! We advocate for social, cultural and political change from motonormativity (car-centeredness) to safer, equitable and inclusive walking in the Greater Stockholm area.
(GWCN = Global Walkability Correspondents Network)
Objectives
- Advocate for the interests of pedestrians in the Stockholm area, and effect a cultural change from motonormativity (car usage at the center of society and culture) to walking as a central part of our lives in the Stockholm area
- Increase awareness for good, equitable and accessible walking infrastructure among decision makers, public sector employees, the urban development and construction industry, and the general public
- through public activities and co-creative methods, amd through highlighting relevant research, help the abovementioned stakeholders identify barriers to walking and how to overcome them
