Intro To SVG and Canvas + A Look At A Custom People Matching Algorithm

Details

Two Topic Thursday!

Usual meeting room and time:

• Room 401 of Building 100 at Gwinnett Tech

• 6:30 PM, Second Thursday

Our first topic will be Finding People: An Algorithm To Match Incoming Data To An Internal System To Prevent Duplication.

Rahn Lieberman will be showing us an algorithm he created to cleanse incoming data.

Rahn is a manager of IT at Emdeon (emdeon.com (http://emdeon.com/)), leading the data integration team in their Atlanta office. In this role, he leads the group responsible for moving data back and forth between customers and internal systems. His first computer was an Atari 800, and sometimes he misses having everything on a cartridge that can easily be plugged in; however the cassette drive is a good riddance. After seeing War Games, he did a war-dial using his trusty 300 baud modem, but never got to play global thermonuclear war.

Our second topic will be Canvas vs SVG presented by Jason Felds. HTML offers both canvas and SVG for working with graphics on the web. Jason will show us the pros and cons of each method as well as a demo using both technologies.
