Details

Here is one of the rides that I am planning for myself; anyone is welcome to join for any part or all of each ride...

Weather permitting (no rain or threat of snow), I'm doing a one-day ride on Sat. Jan. 25 (Chinese New Year) of about 340 miles. I will head north past Gorman to turn-off for Pine Mountain Lodge (fill up gas - long stint without any stations) then west towards Pine Mountain, hanging a left at Lockwood Valley Rd. to the 33; north to the 166 to the 101 south for a brief stint; off at Broadway to Orcutt where I will lunch at Kay's Orcutt Country Kitchen. After filling up (bike and tummy) heading east on Clark Ave. to Foxen Canyon, past Cold Springs Tavern to Gibralter Rd. (the "Alpes D'Huez of California - a Tour de France reference - and, yes, I have ridden up this road on my road bicycle...) to 150 Lake Casitas Pass to Ojai to Santa Paula where I will do a loop-de-loop - Balcom Canyon Rd to Stockton Rd. back to Grimes Canyon back to Guiberson Rd. to the 126 (at Piru) then back to Sylmar.

This is an all-day ride due to plenty of canyons and twisties. KSU (kick stands up) at 8:00 a.m. in front of my home in Sylmar, CA (e-mail me for address: TrialAttorney@Hotmail.com - You'll need your GPS to find it.).

Please have breakfast in your tummy before you get here. You can get munchies at the gas station just past Gorman where we will re-fill our tanks and have a restroom break. Next stop is lunch in Orcutt. After Orcutt, we don't stop, again, for fuel until Piru when we rejoin the 126 to get back to Sylmar. Those of you who live in Simi will want to take Grimes canyon south (rather than follow me north back to the 126 - to save you many miles of going around the long way back to home).

This is a very pretty ride (except the first part of 166 through the oil fields and there may be snow as we head to the Lockwood Valley turn-off so be prepared for cold weather...) For those who want to lessen the canyons and twisties, you can shoot home down the 101 from the junction with the 166 and bypass Orcutt, lunch, Foxen Canyon, etc... and take 101 to Hwy 126 back to the Valley. Another opportunity to "short cut" the route home is to avoid Gibralter Rd. and just take 154 down to the 101 then south to the 126.

Anyone is welcome to join me - no need to RSVP - if you are here at KSU, I will figure out you are joining me; if you are at my home at 8:10 a.m, don't ring the bell - my wife will be going back to bed. KSU at 8:00 a.m. means that is time I head out; bathroom is available from 7:30 a.m. until 7:55 a.m.
