Jam session w/ Swingology, May 19, 2024 Waraku Restaurant

Swingology will provide 2 sets of our standard Gypsy Jazz repertoire with an open jam after each set. Musicians are welcome to come take part in the jams. We'll have a signup sheet for those wanting to jam. We have a limited number of printed copies of the Django Fake Book, so if you happen to have one or have it on a tablet, please bring it along with you and maybe a music stand.

Gypsy Jazz, aka “Hot Club Jazz,” is best defined by the works of Django Rheinhardt and Stephane Grappelli and was prominent in late 30s early 40s in Europe. It features generally up-tempo danceable rhythms with instrumentation including guitars, violin, upright bass, clarinet, and accordion. Vocalists and all instruments, including kazoo, are welcome as well!

Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you play an instrument or not, Waraku Restaurant has great Japanese food that is reasonably priced!
