SeaAhead, in partnership with Venture Café, CIC, and GMRI will lead an exploration of opportunities for innovation in the aquaculture industry.

Despite immediate challenges, opportunities exist to design and redesign aquaculture supply chains and markets, taking advantage of a range of innovations. When applied strategically, technology can help the aquaculture industry improve resilience in local food systems, build a more sustainable and healthy food and energy future, and give a needed economic boost to coastal communities.

Themes include the increasing role of ‘smart’ hardware and software in aquaculture and will touch on the potential impact of emerging sub-sectors, such as seaweed-derived bio-energy for decarbonization and technologies that promote regional food security while economically empowering coastal communities in a Covid19 world.
