Join me for a camping weekend at Prince Gallitizin State Park. There is a lot to do here and in the area, so some of us are arriving Wednesday. You can arrive whatever day you would like. Check in is 3pm, check out is 3pm.
This is a very big campground with lots of camping loops. Rob and I are on Site #120 in Red Oak Loop. Reservations and details about the park can be made online at: Prince Gallitzin State Park | Department of Conservation and Natural Resources| Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
There are over 32 miles of hiking trails, a beach and there is the 1,635-acre Glendale Lake which has nine public boat launching areas located throughout the park. There are boat rentals at 2 locations. The lake is a warmwater fishery.
If you like trains or are a railway enthusiast, the Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark is in the area in Altoona, PA. Something else to explore is the Johnstown Flood Museum ( admission fee required) [Johnstown Flood Museum - Johnstown Area Heritage Association (jaha.org)](https://www.jaha.org/attractions/johnstown-flood-museum/) and Johnstown Flood National Memorial ( free) [Johnstown Flood National Memorial (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)](https://www.nps.gov/jofl/index.htm) On May 31, 1889, The South Fork Dam failed and unleashed 20,000,000 tons of water that devastated Johnstown, PA. The flood killed over 2,200 people. This is about 1 hour from the State Park.
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the PA State Parks.
