Machine Learning by Doing (Online)

Details
Come work on bite sized machine learning (ML) problems for a couple hours with a few experts from HacDC!
Join our discord for the most up to date information.
During these meetings we'll choose a small ML problem or exercise and write code to solve it. This meetup is targeted towards people who are comfortable coding (mostly in Python) and have some math background (not as important as the coding) but doesn't require much ML expertise.
We will choose the specific activity depending on the interests of those who show up. Some potential tasks are,
- do some exercises from the huggingface course https://huggingface.co/course/chapter1/1
- build a custom text corpus from Wikipedia
- setup stable diffusion and make some AI art [https://github.com/CompVis/stable-diffusion ](https://github.com/CompVis/stable-diffusion)
- do a "getting started" Kaggle competition https://www.kaggle.com/competitions?hostSegmentIdFilter=5
- do some machine learning katas https://www.bpesquet.fr/mlkatas/index.html
- calculate word vectors via matrix factorization https://www.kaggle.com/code/gabrielaltay/word-vectors-from-pmi-matrix
- take your favorite network layer and implement it in NumPy, PyTorch, Tensorflow, jax, [whatever your favorite is]
