Mrs. Penny's Driving School - Electronics Class #01

This is an ongoing series of workshops that meets once a month. We will meet for 6 hours and accomplish as much as possible as we work our way through the project. I can't tell you how many classes it will take to have a completed project since this is the first time I will be teaching the class. Logistically the minimum would be 2 classes since we will have to wait for our custom boards to be manufactured and our parts shipped to us from the distributor.

The name is a bit misleading, or maybe a lot misleading but this IS an electronics class. The class is designed for anyone with little to no knowledge about electronics design. The premise is this: We will go step by step from idea to hardware in your hand, pretty simple right?

Our first project will be a custom micro-controller development board (custom Arduino clone). We will start with a single part number and learn the basics of using a datasheet and how to find the relevant information for our application. We will use EAGLE to design the schematic and PCB, we will order boards from a fab, parts from a distributor, and assemble and test them in class.

There is a $10 fee per class that will be used for food and beverages during our 6 hour class as well as go towards the purchase of our hardware when the time comes.
