Details

Introduction by Ciara Byrne:

We may be entering a golden age of journalism enabled by the new tech tools of the trade. Startups like Circa are re-imaging news (http://www.fastcolabs.com/3008881/tracking/circas-object-oriented-approach-to-building-the-news) for the mobile, Storyful is using (http://www.fastcolabs.com/3009297/open-company/how-to-verify-news-you-find-on-the-web) old-fashioned journalistic skills to verify Youtube videos. Traditional news brands like the New York Times and the Guardian are creating interactive news "products" (http://www.fastcolabs.com/3009631/open-company/scoops-and-software-how-the-new-york-times-tells-stories-with-data) and trail-blazing data journalism (http://www.globaleditorsnetwork.org/dja/?gclid=CJWjyr3yjrkCFYfMtAodqmwAvQ). Hacks and Hackers brings together journalists, designers and developers to talk scoops and software, drones, data and news hacking. If you are interested in new ways of telling stories, then it's the place for you.

Eric Smit from Follow the Money

Follow the Money is de first and only independent platform for investigative journalism in the Netherlands. We use every cent to keep the bastards honest and deliver maximum impact. We're not a company, we're a movement.

Jelle Kamsma from LocalFocus

LocalFocus is a data-driven news service for local and regional media. The platform aims to present datasets we collect from different sources (government agencies, companies, universities etc.) in an insightful way so that regional reporters without a technical background can build stories around them. In the process they can generate customized maps and charts to enrich their articles.
