Details
Is your gaming keyboard acting up? Sticky keys, unresponsive buttons, or a completely dead connection? Don't let a faulty keyboard interrupt your gameplay or send a perfectly fixable device to the landfill! Join Mana Gaming L.L.C. at Hackers Guild PGH for our hands-on Beginner Electronics Repair Class!
This class is your perfect entry point into the exciting world of electronics repair, designed specifically for aspiring DIYers and gamers who want to bring their gear back to life. You'll learn foundational troubleshooting, disassembly, cleaning, and soldering skills that are directly applicable to diagnosing and fixing your own gaming keyboards and many other electronic devices. What you'll learn and do in this class:
● Diagnose Keyboard Issues: Learn to use software to quickly pinpoint what's broken on a keyboard, giving you immediate visual feedback on key presses.
● Safe Disassembly & Reassembly: Understand how to safely open and put back
together a keyboard, identifying crucial components like keycaps and rubber domes.
● Fix Common Key Problems: Troubleshoot and repair issues caused by pesky debris or
misaligned components, which often lead to "stuck" or "non-functional" keys.
● Understand Internal Ribbon Cables: Get insights into how internal flat ribbon cables connect the key matrix to the controller board.
● Hands-On Soldering Basics: Gain critical hands-on experience with soldering
techniques, perfect for repairing common issues like broken USB cable connections to the controller board.
No need to bring your own broken devices or tools! We provide Dell KB216 keyboards,
intentionally "broken" in ways that mimic real-world issues, for you to work on. All essential
equipment, including basic tool kits, soldering stations (with fume extractors and safety
glasses!), multimeters, and more, will be supplied for your use.
