Scripting your data journalism for repeatability

Details
Panels at both SXSW Interactive and IRE’s CAR Conference last month touched on a growing trend in data journalism where practitioners are making their data analysis repeatable through scripting. The languages and methods vary (R vs Python: Fight!), but the goal is to do work in such a way that a journalists’ analysis could be run by another person, with the same result.
Journalists from the Austin American-Statesman and Texas Tribune will share some of their experiences working this way: the benefits, challenges and shortcomings. They will show some examples of their work and offer tips on how others can join the trend.
This meetup will be held at the CMG Innovation headquarters, 500 San Marcos St., next door to the Brew and Brew coffee pub.
