Details

(Please note, we have changed our meet-up day to a Monday evening)

James York, founder and CEO of Knitd, and co-founder Richard Sams.

They will be talking about Knitd, an app they are in the process of launching.

Readers will buy articles via a micropayment system, with journalists receiving 80% - so worth finding out about if you are a freelancer.

There's more information on Knitd here (http://www.journalism.co.uk/news/knitd-to-launch-as-web-app-for-premium-content/s2/a551252/).

Hacks/Hackers is a global movement where hacks (journalists) and hackers (developers) meet for talks, demos, hackathons and socials. All are welcome.

It started in San Francisco and New York in 2009 (http://www.nieman.harvard.edu/reports/article/102421/HacksHackers-Bringing-Journalists-and-Technologists-Together.aspx) and there are now 30 meet-up groups across five continents (see the Hacks/Hackers site (http://hackshackers.com/)).

The goal of Hacks/Hackers is to create a "network of journalists and technologists who rethink the future of news and information".

Hacks/Hackers Brighton launched in September 2011 at the Brighton Digital Festival.

Organised by Journalism.co.uk (http://www.journalism.co.uk/), the group includes talks and demos from hacks and hackers and draws on the wealth of talent in and around Brighton.
