Information security for journalists (and anyone else!)

Details
It's never been easier to communicate with anyone, anywhere, than it is in 2017. As journalists, this is a tremendous gift.
It has also never been easier for your communications to be intercepted, for your accounts to be hacked, and to be harassed by anonymous hordes. As human beings, this is terrifying.
Let's talk information security and become less terrified! If you're a journalist, a civic hacker, or an interested citizen, we'll be hosting three short talks on April 6th to help you figure this stuff out:
-
Matt Perry/WordPress - how to keep yourself secure and your accounts safe, based on extensive experience at one of the world's largest open-source publishing projects.
-
Sai Prashanth Chandramouli/Amazon - new research into e-mail security.
-
Petros Angelatos/Resin.io - how to contact and trade documents with sources and other journalists safely, using SecureDrop, Signal, and more.
Afterward, we'll set aside some time to mingle, talk, and exchange encryption keys, if you're into that kind of thing.
Note: Yes, we're trying to get the H/H Seattle gang back together, thanks to some volunteers who are helping me get organized, and we've got a couple of these meetups sketched out. Have ideas for future events you'd like to see us host? Get in touch!
