Data visualizations in the newsroom

Details
As data journalism is becoming more ubiquitous, the traditional boundaries between programmers and journalists are increasingly fading.
Today, more and more newsrooms are embedding developers in their editorial team, sometimes sitting directly next to the editors.
Join us on June 7 to hear 2 speakers take on this topic:
-
Jordan Wirfs-Brock; freelance journalist and data storyteller, whose illustrations, graphics and videos have been featured on NPR.org (http://npr.org/), PBS.org (http://pbs.org/), High Country News, Vox.com (http://vox.com/) and TheAtlantic.com (http://theatlantic.com/). Most recently, Jordan spent three years with public media project Inside Energy, explaining complex topics in approachable and surprising ways.
-
Thomas Wilburn; data journalist at the Seattle Times, will talk about how the Interactives Team has worked to make data visualization work across screens both small and large now that half of the news audience is primarily reading on a phone.
We'll set aside some time to mingle after the talks.
Further details might be added at a later date. If you would like to contribute, or have ideas for future events you'd like to see us host, get in touch.
