What and Where: Visualizing geodata for news with WebGL
public group

Details
The Seattle Times recently published details on the Profanity Peak wolf pack, members of which were hunted and killed after clashes with cattle ranchers in Eastern Washington. To tell this story, we combined records requests, digital elevation maps, and WebGL to create a 3D tour of the landscape using more than 150,000 polygons. In this talk, we'll talk about using open geodata on the web, including how we exported elevation from QGIS in a visualization-friendly format. It'll be a short presentation, and then we'll have some time to mingle and chat.
We're also looking for lightning talks centered around mapping and geodata--let us know if you're interested in presenting!
