In 2015 the Swiss broadcasting corporation SRG SSR took a new approach to its coverage of the upcoming parliamentary elections. politbox (http://politbox.ch), a cross-media project, saw young journalists embark on a four-month journey across Switzerland to find out what 16- to 34-year-olds thought about Swiss politics and their views on a range of topical issues.

The journey was accompanied by the same-named politbox-App (available for iOS and Android), designed and developed by the Swiss web company Liip (http://liip.ch). Available in Switzerland’s four national languages and English, it features a series of questions aimed at raising young voters’ political awareness and testing their knowledge of Swiss politics in general.

The app won Silver and Bronze at the Swiss App Awards and the overall project won the 6th place in the Prix Europa online category (http://www.srf.ch/news/wahlen/wahlen15-politbox/in-eigener-sache-6-platz-fuer-politbox-am-prix-europa-2015).

At our next HHZRH meetup, taking place at the headquarters of Liip in Zurich, project leaders Konrad Weber (SRG SSR) and Andreas Amsler (Liip) will talk about the politbox project as well as the iterative design and development process that brought the app to life – and how agile process management can facilitate team work between hacks and hackers.

(talk will be held in German, questions may be asked in English)

Join us on Thu, March 31st at our beloved hosts from Liip!

Door opens at 5:30pm, presentation starts at 6pm.
