Edit: Update! We will be including our first workshop in this meeting as well! See the comments below for details, and to order your Particle Photon :)

Hi Hacksters! I'm Drew Alden, your Hackster.io Ambassador here in Phoenix!

Myself and your co-ambassadors Chris and Shannon would like to welcome you to our group! We know that sometimes, finding time to work on projects is hard, and tooling is expensive. Hackster Live is a new program from www.hackster.io (http://www.hackster.io/) that aims to create a fun, recurring environment where you can take a break from the routine and connect, learn and create meaningful projects. Our hope is to create a consistent monthly event you can depend on - and the snacks are on us :) Events will consist of some or all of the following:

• New Hardware to play with! Hackster.io has a LOT of hardware sponsors who want to see what you can do with their platforms! These are sometimes given away as prizes and are always available to play with or even borrow.

• Contests! Hackster loves sponsor contests, and we have a lot. It's our favorite thing! You can find all of our current ones at http://www.hackster.io/challenges . Submit a cool enough idea and Hackster will provide you with free hardware and means to make it happen - just for sharing your completed project on Hackster! Furthermore, win the challenge by having one of the coolest, most complete project tutorials, and you'll win even more awesome prizes - like an iPad Pro, Amazon Echo, or even a Glowforge!

• Group Projects and Demos, such as building an electronics kit, writing a program, or re-creating a Hackster project together. Details and equipment will be available prior to the meetup.

• Show and tell about a project you're working on. You might even recruit some help!

• Ad-hoc Projects that are open to participation by any community member. Working on something cool and looking for help, or would love to further someone else's project? This is for you.

• Hackster Live Only discounts! We've partnered with Adafruit, SparkFun, Particle, and more to bring you over-arching discounts, just for being a member!

• Chill out area with a cool YouTube playlist aimed at makers with snacks, drinks, maybe some cards or board games.

• Kids area with littleBits and the like. Make it into a family affair and teach the kiddos about electronics too! We do ask to be respectful of others' property (fix what you break) and the area noise level - typically means kids of an appropriate age, 5 or above-ish. Supervision is not provided, but you can bring another parent or sitter!

• Finally, independent work is of course an option. Maybe you just need a quiet corner to punch out some code, tools to work with, or like-minded people to bounce ideas off of. Even if group activities aren't your thing, pop in anyway!

As for scheduling, we are NOT here to step on toes! We love the IoT and maker community that Chris Mattieu and others have helped establish already, and look forward to partnering up with other groups! Please connect with us about your events and we'll coordinate ours alongside yours. We're excited to team up everyone in the community to host collaborative events!
