NEW Morning Walk and Stories Along Ben Franklin Parkway

Details
Let's take a morning walk along Philadelphia’s beautiful Ben Franklin Parkway.
This walk will feature sightseeing and stories, some history, beautiful views, architecture plus a garden. A fun, easy way to discover the surprising stories behind the places you, as a Philadelphia or South Jersey local, may have already visited many, many times before.
The length of the walk, 0.9-miles (about 10 blocks), will be at an easy pace.
We’ll meet at Sister Cities Cafe (located across from The Basilica St. Peter and St Paul.)
We will learn the why behind the surprisingly simple design of the Basilica then enter to see its beauty and highlights.
Next we will walk together to the spraying fountains at Logan Square and learn a surprising family story that will link where we start our walk to where we will finish.
We’ll end at the steps of Philadelphia Museum of Art after stories along the way about the people and events that inspired the design of the Parkway, about The Barnes Foundation, the display of flags from around the world, the monuments and museums, a European-style garden and finally a look beyond the 'Rocky Steps' to explore all sides of Philadelphia’s “Temple of Art.”
There are restrooms at the start of the walk and toward the end.
There will be some steps to walk up and down.
You may like to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat or even an umbrella for shade.
If you’re up for a good walk and you’re curious about the stories behind the Philly sights along the Parkway, let’s go!
