The following talk will be presented:

Gregory Chanan, Cloudera

Recently Apache Solr has been integrated into the Hadoop ecosystem to provide full text search at "big data" scale. This talk will give an overview of how Cloudera tackled integrating Solr into the Hadoop ecosystem and highlight some of the design decisions and future plans. Learn how Solr is going to get closer to Hadoop, which contributions are going to what project and how you should consider tackling search at Hadoop scale in the future.

A similar meetup group has been formed for those of us outside the Bay Area. The NorCal BigData User Group is having its initial meeting Sept. 21 in midtown Sacramento. Topic will be an overview of Hadoop and walkthru of the Cloudera Quickstart VM. come join us and share your expertise.

If you're interested in learning more about the HCFS (Hadoop Compatible File System) project, come to the Gluster Community Day at Rackspace SF on Tuesday, August 27. Stephen Watt will present on that project, as well as the Gluster-HCFS plugin:

The timing for this could not be better. We're currently looking at best practices for adding Hadoop to our current architecture of Solr + an ISO standard. I'm VERY interested in learning about their experiences and why they reached certain design decisions. It should be worth the drive down from the Gold Country
