What we’re about

Hi All, This group is for all who want to learn dance with two left feet, those want to perform dance and want to meet other performers, those who just want to have fun and dance to music. Those want to socially dance in the Half Moon Bay Area or go to parties together in San Francisco or Peninsula/San Jose or those looking to advance their dance skills and be on reality shows and even teach Bollywood dance. We run Rang De Bollywood Dance Company and are certified in 14 Indian folk dances, Indian Classical Dances, and Bollywood Dances. We love meeting people and entertaining them and hoping to find, create, and nurture a dance community in Half Moon Bay for the Long term.

Description
Job Title: Instructor - Bollywood, Bhangra
Department: Rang De Bollywood Dance Company
Reports To: Director
Classification: Part-time, contractor

Start Date: May 1st, 2024
Job Purpose: To deliver the School’s curriculum, determined by the Director, to the students enrolled in Rang De Bollywood classes; to develop and nurture these students; to transmit a passion for the art form.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Structure and teach Rang De Bollywood following the School’s stated curriculum. This includes level-appropriate classroom technical instruction as well as mentoring students in the artistic, musical and dance story

Attend regular staff meetings. Participate in the end of the year student showcase and lead students through performance opportunities

Record and report on student attendance; relay concerns to the the Director

Monitors students’ progress, attendance, growth.

Qualifications
Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

Minimum of 3 years experience teaching Bollywood, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Indian Folk or one of these

A strong teaching experience

Open to non-Indian trained teachers who have a strong passion to teach and are passionate about Bollywood and can learn quickly

Technical Competencies:

A commitment to the aims and objectives of Rang De Bollywood Dance Company

Develops students by providing kind, appropriate, and inspiring training in technique

Provides level-appropriate combinations within the structure of the stated curriculum

Gives corrections to all students. Creates an environment where students can accept and learn from mistakes, coaches students through difficulties and provides ongoing feedback and encouragement.

Responsibility for the overall discipline of the class, and ensuring proper technique is taught and all are encouraged

Proactive and flexible approach to work, willingness to be involved in all areas of the Company’s dance initiatives including online classes, performances, additional classes

Manages class and rehearsals in a professional manner.

Personable and well presented, including wearing the proper Indian attire for teaching

Maintain appropriate staff-student relationships; complies with the Conduct with Minors policy and other School/Association policies related to health and welfare.

Communicates with students, staff, colleagues, parents etc in a manner that ensures clear and mutual understanding of information.

Demonstrates diplomacy and tact in all interactions.

Builds rapport and develops effective, collaborative relationships with colleagues, pianists and staff.

Supports and provides equal and fair treatment for all.

First aid and CPR qualification or willingness to attend training

Have dance teacher insurance

Physical Demands:

Demonstrates dance moves, styles, musicality and dynamics, 1-3 hours preparation work to learn choreography and lyrics

Be in a good physical shape and know how to take care of the body to teach, perform

Other:

Basic knowledge of Google Drive, Zoom, Bluetooth speakers

Rang De Bollywood is an elite Bollywood and Indian Folk Dance company with a vision to expand Internationally while empowering students through fun, empowering, great choreographies. While we believe everyone can dance, we are committed to excellence in the arts. We train to be the best and pass that knowledge on to our students through our curriculums. Rang De Bollywood trains students in 15 Indian dance forms including Bihu, Khodiya, Ghantu, Kalbeliya, Chari, Ghoomar, Hojagiri, Tippani, Dalkhai, Tera Tali, Bhangra, Giddha, Garba, Semiclassical, Indian Hip Hop, Bollywood, Tollywood.

Please send your resume, videos of you dancing, pieces you have choreographed, all references from previous organizations where you have taught to rangdebollywood@gmail.com under the attention of Manpreet Komal. Please list a few times to meet for 1 hour in the week after you submit the resume. After you send your resume and videos, we will discuss a time to meet.

An amazing fun Bollywood dance class for all ages and all levels come dip your feet in Bollywood with Manpreet known to bring hearts to joy

Hailing from the dream dance city of Mumbai and Amritsar, which is also home to Bollywood and Holy Vibes, these energetic, charismatic, and fun dance instructors-performers-entertainers, Manpreet (Certified in Indian Folk by India's Best and also an author) and Amit (percussionist, actor, dancer), have spread Indian dance music and moves across the length and breadth of India, USA, and Europe.

Their recent performances were at National Center of Performing Arts in Mumbai and Herbst Theater in San Francisco. Learn a combination of a 60 minute Bollywood or Bhangra dance lesson that will leave you feeling loved, lighter, and delighted in excitement every week.

They will be teaching you an all-levels Bollywood dance lesson to a Bollywood song from India for 60 minutes. Come one, come all. We can't wait to see you all!

Enter through the transit center building and take the elevator to the rooftop. We will be close to the elevator.
