What we’re about

Since the invention of headphones and music collections, people have replaced their audio reality with sounds of their choice for relaxation, exercise, entertainment and education purposes. In the mid 1990s a wave of virtual visual reality came through but failed to take hold. 2017 appears to be the year of virtual, augmented and mixed realities.

This is a group for anyone of any age (and parent-child attendance is encouraged) interested in discussing or sharing their experience using, creating or considering the social implications of, apps, games and/or experiences which mix or replace the real world with the virtual, including:

basic hand-held AR (phone apps);

chair-bound VR (Cardboard/Gear VR);

desk-scale standing tethered VR (Windows Holographic with Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus, Acer);

room-scale high-end VR (e.g. Rift, Vive, Windows Holographic);

building-scale+ untethered mixed reality (e.g. HoloLens).

A first meetup will be arranged once sufficient members join, and it will likely include device demos!
