- Detecting Cyber-bullying in Social Media
Speaker: Geetika Bhatia
Bio: Geetika Bhatia is a Ph.D. student who recently migrated from India. She has been in academia for the last 15 years and currently teaching at Dalhousie University. She is also interning at Rein Technologies as a data scientist.
Abstract: Cyber-bullying has become prevalent in today's social media. Cyberbullying can happen at any time anywhere from any part of the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is challenging to detect as social media posts consist of messages, audios, images and videos that could be posted anonymously under a pseudonym. Geetika will present her work that would help to control the impact of cyberbullying by detecting the user’s anomalous behavior well in advance which in turn helps the society at large.
- Using MLFlow and Docker to Deploy Machine Learning Models
Speaker: Paul Bendevis
Bio: Paul graduated from University Waterloo in 2016 studying Applied Math. He has worked in a variety of roles doing modeling for robotics, insurance, lasers, solar power, and weather. He currently works for SureWx doing forecasting for the aviation industry.
Abstract: In this talk, we will look at how to deploy machine learning models behind a URL to be used in production. We will look at the functionality of MLFlow and how it assists in the model deployment lifecycle. We will also define a custom API around a model, and launch it into production on a Kubernetes server.
