Hey everyone… Glad here — your devoted matchmaker and loneliness eradicator. 😊❤️

I ran Singles Dances for 13 years, from 1993 to 2006, and during those years, more couples met than I could ever count — including my husband and me.

We met at one of my dances on a night when only about 90 people came because there was a blinding snowstorm outside. Not exactly the night you'd expect your life to change.

But mine did. ❤️

Then, almost three years ago, after hearing over and over again, “Glad, you should start the Singles Dances again,” I finally decided to do it.

I wasn't sure there would still be a need for them. We were now living in the world of online dating, but people kept telling me they had “had it” with online dating and really wanted more opportunities for in-person connection.

I still wasn't sure if Singles Dances would work again.

Boyyyyyyy, was I wrong. 😂❤️

We started with a name — Halifax Singles Dances — and created a Facebook Page.

We had ONE follower.

Me. 😂

We picked a date for our first dance — January 19, 2024 — and hoped people would come.

What a shock I got when, before the doors even opened…
WE WERE SOLD OUT.

That night told me everything I needed to know.

People still wanted to meet.

They still wanted friendship, companionship, romance and real face-to-face connection — without the hassle of going out to meet 200 different people, 200 different times, in 200 different places.

Why not put hundreds of singles together in one room and let the magic happen? ❤️

And now here we are, just 2 & 1/2 yrs later getting ready to celebrate 5,000 followers.

And here's the part I'm especially proud of…
We keep our followers LOCAL to the Maritimes.

Because this has never been about collecting the biggest number on Facebook.

It's about building a real singles community filled with people who actually have the 'opportunity to meet one another.'

And on Saturday, November 14, we're celebrating BIG.
