Purpose

If you love books, and you're ready to discuss them... you're in the right place.

Book selection

Anyone can propose a book: by sending to the organizer his/hers suggestion or during the book discussion. All suggestions will be put in a Doodle poll in the Meetup so the community can vote on the options.

The members can pick from different genres. Work your way through a list of books that have received a particular reward for quality (Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award), excellence within a genre (Nebula, Walter Scott Prize), or for qualities that lead to good discussion (Firecracker Alternate Book Award, banned book lists, or various book club lists). Maybe we could read something from your country. Be creative!

The member whose book is picked, gets to be the host of the book discussion. As a host the member should find and reserve a café place and prepare some questions. The host could use his/hers questions or use those once published online. Be creative!

Reading Schedule

We will meet each month Thursday late afternoon to discuss the book we have chosen. The discussion should take between 2-2,5 hours.

RSVP

RSVP open 14 days before the event and will close on Monday before the event. For offline meetings we limit the attendance to 10 people.

If you think you can make it, but you haven't change your RSVP yet, do not hesitate to contact the organizer and/or the host so they can change the reservation. Please RSVP responsibly. Give a notice if you cannot join.

Meeting location

The host will be responsible for picking up a spot for the group discussion. We will try to switch up our spot — a cafe, library, big bookstore, or even a park on a nice day.

Keep in mind

You may find that you disagree with something that another member of the group has said. It is okay to disagree as long as it's done in a polite and tactful manner. Inappropriate behavior and/or language will not be tolerated. Please respect the host. The host put effort in putting up the discussion.
