Moin, dear hikers! If you were to ask me when the best time for a hike is, my answer would be next Sunday. Spring has arrived, the leaves on the trees are fresh and bright green, and it's the last weekend for a while that train services towards Lüneburg will not be affected by construction work. Therefore, let's take the opportunity to go to Meckelfeld, hike along the Seeve river to the Buchwedel forest, and take a walk through one of the nicest forests that can be reached from Hamburg within a 15-minute train ride.

The hike is mostly on easy terrain, but with some short, steep climbs and the paths can be bumpy and muddy in places. Walking speed will be up to 5 km/h. Please bring your own snacks and enough water/drinks as needed for the trip at. Friendly dogs that are kept on a leash are also welcome.

We meet at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof on platform 13, section A, below the sign 'A' at 10:45. Alternatively, if you start somewhere else, we will meet at 11:13 at Meckelfeld train station. The train RB31 in the direction of Lüneburg starts in Hamburg Hbf at 10:55 from platform 13, section A-C (usually, but check the displays on Sunday!). For the return trip we first take a bus back to Meckelfeld, so that there would be a convenient place to park a bicycle or a car. If everything goes as planned, we will be back at Hamburg Hbf at 18:10. The journey is covered by the Deutschland Ticket, otherwise HVV 2-ring tickets (AB) are required for the outward and return journeys from Hamburg central station.

Please play nice and only sign up if your are 100% sure that you will join! Unreliable people (no show or late cancellation) may be excluded from future events with limited capacity. Repeat offenders will be banned from the group.

As always, this is a free event, but voluntary donations are welcome and help me cover the costs of running the group. Nobody is expected to give, only do so if you can afford it and would like to. Look out for the violet donation box toward the end of the hike.
