Speaker One:
Andreas Sittler, Senior Solutions Engineering Consultant, Confluent

Title of Talk:
How to set data in motion to implement your Data Mesh

Abstract:
Thoughtworks Zhamak Dehghani observations on these traditional approaches’s failure modes, inspired her to develop an alternative big data management architecture that she aptly named the Data Mesh. This represents a paradigm shift that draws from modern distributed architecture and is founded on the principles of domain-driven design, self-serve platform, and product thinking with Data. In the last decade Apache Kafka has established a new category of data management infrastructure for data in motion that has been leveraged in modern distributed data architectures.

Bio:
Andreas works as a Solutions Engineer at Confluent. He initially graduated with a diploma in high energy physics and wrote Fortran and C/C++ software for data acquisition and analysis at CERN, a research facility in Geneva, Switzerland, at a time when Java was still experimental.

Through the next 20 yrs he wore multiple hats in post-sales, training and pre-sales with companies like Template Software, TIBCO and Pegasystems. He rediscovered his interest in EDA and is convinced that Kafka is the core technology that helps to deliver on the promise of an enterprise nervous system.

Speaker Two:
Dominik Fries, CTO, Thinkport

Title of Talk:
Integration of Kafka and Confluent with a managed API management like Azure API Gateway

Abstract:
Kafka and Confluent are nice, but what about the integration with public clouds like Azure. Or even better, to integrate Kafka and Confluent with a managed API management like Azure API Gateway.

In this talk I will show you how it is possible to integrate an event streaming platform like Confluent into an enterprise API Management and different other services to build up a lambda based data platform architecture.

Bio:
Dominik is the co-founder and CTO of Thinkport. A consultancy specialized in cloud computing, based in Frankfurt, Leipzig and Hamburg. For more than 7 years he has been working on distributed systems and cloud solutions. One of his many passions are event driven architectures and microservices.

With Kafka and Confluent, he has been able to gain practical experience with countless customers and can tell one or two anecdotes about this.

Speaker Three:
Kevin Begrow, COO, Fischer Retail Solutions

Title of Talk:
Why migrate to Confluent Cloud? Demonstrated with a real customer example

Abstract:
Using a success story as an example, we talk about how FRSHUB with the Apache Kafka Eco-System became an optimal business intelligence platform that interprets data from multiple sources to show real-time and predictive views of the for different business units. We talk about our IAC deployment in Azure, the API management, and why we are migrating to the Confluent Cloud.

Bio:
Kevin is the COO of the Leipzig-based start-up Fischer Retail Solutions. FRS Consulting Agency and IT Partner for Cloud Architectures, BI Solutions in mid-sized companies. He has seen a lot in his 13 years in the IT business. He works as a cloud solution architect, a certified Apache Kafka developer, and in SAP technology consulting with a focus on installation and migration projects. In the last 7 years he implemented several streaming platforms based on Apache Kafka and Confluent for enterprise and midmarket customers. Since 2019 he and his team is developing the FRSHUB, an event driven data streaming platform for BI analyses and omnichannel retailing.
