Title of Talk:
Go go Galapagos - How an event-driven turtle helps us breaking chains

Abstract:

  • Microservices allow us at Hermes to develop business capabilities separately. But how can services from different domains communicate without entering into a tight coupling that blocks dynamic development? How do we avoid call chains and achieve that information for millions of packages and shipments is where it is needed in the shortest possible time?

Bio:
Andreas works as a Solutions Engineer at Confluent. He initially graduated with a diploma in high energy physics and wrote Fortran and C/C++ software for data acquisition and analysis at CERN, a research facility in Geneva, Switzerland, at a time when Java was still experimental.

Through the next 20 years, he wore multiple hats in post-sales, training and pre-sales with companies like Template Software, TIBCO and Pegasystems. He rediscovered his interest in EDA and is convinced that Kafka is the core technology that helps to deliver on the promise of an enterprise nervous system.
